The following is Lake Lure Storm Update for Sunday, 9/29/24 at 8PM. 

1) RESCUES: Firefighters and Town Staff have gone door to door making rescues in the most affected areas  here. Many rescues are by foot and via helicopter where vehicles cannot go. 

2) INGRESS/EGRESS: 
- 64/74 to Rutherfordton became impassable again today at Rock Springs, beyond Bills Creek Road.
- Bill’s Creek Road is accessible to Cove Road through to Sugar Hill Road which leads to I-40. 
- Highway 9 is open though to McQuinn’s. You can take Big Level Road to 74 to 108 and then to I-26. 

3) LOCALS ONLY PLEASE: 
- Officials have asked that no one come to Town unless you live here. 
- There will be check points requiring verification to minimize traffic to locals only. 
- Please do not come to Town unless you absolutely need to be here. 
- If locals are able to leave Town, it is advisable. 

4) CURFEW: Rutherford County has established a curfew from 7:30 PM to 7:30 AM. 

5) CELL/INTERNET SERVICE:  Cell and internet access has improved some today and should continue to improve tomorrow. 

6) DONATION STATION: 
- A Donation Station is being established from 10AM - 3:00 PM at the Parks, Recreation, and Lake Office at 658 Memorial Highway (64/74), next to the Lake Lure Fire Department.
- Water, non perishable food items, and clean wipes are appreciated. 
- If you are in need of these items, they will be distributed from this location as long as supplies last. 

7) WATER/SEWER SYSTEM: 
- A BOIL ADVISORY is in place for Town and well water. 
- A NO FLUSH order is in place for those on the Town system. 
- All Town wells are operable except two and staff are working to repair these. 

8) DAM/LAKE LEVELS: 
- The Lake Lure Dam remains stable. We are so thankful! 
- Lake levels may need to be adjusted tomorrow. Updates will be provided as a decision is made on the specific needs.
