Lake Lure Fire & Emergency Management
The Lake Lure Fire Department provides fire, rescue, advanced emergency medical, and emergency management services for the citizens of the Town of Lake Lure. In addition, the town contracts with three volunteer fire departments. These three volunteer departments are necessary to meet the maximum coverage requirements set forth by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) which states a homeowner can only receive credit for fire protection if they are located within 5 road miles of a fire station. The Town of Lake Lure currently has an ISO Class 4 rating.
There are areas inside the town that are nearly 9 miles from the Lake Lure Fire Station. The three contracted departments include Bills Creek, Chimney Rock, and Fairfield Mountains Fire Departments. Each one of the stations has a designated response area inside the town and responds along with the Lake Lure Fire Department.
When there is a structure fire, all four fire departments respond. Because of this close working relationship we train together almost weekly in an effort to ensure that we operate well together in an emergency.
