Lake Lure Storm Update: The Lake Lure Dam has been evaluated by engineers from Schnabel Engineering. They have advised that the dam is not at risk of imminent failure and is stable.
Roadways in and out of town are still covered by fallen trees and power lines. Crews will be working beginning at daylight to remove trees as quickly as possible.
The Town’s water/sewer system engineers from LaBella Associates have been consulted and will arrive tomorrow to make assessments and provide recommendations.
As many are aware, cell and internet service has been extremely challenging today. The Town has been working with Emergency Management to obtain temporary emergency equipment which we hope will help improve service.
The Town declared a State of Emergency and will continue working closely with Rutherford County Emergency Management as well as FEMA moving forward.
Thank you to all those working hard to rescue our neighbors today! Thank you to the community for your patience as we work through the challenges of recovery from this devastating storm.
