Employment Opportunity - Public Works Utility Maintenance Technician, I
The Town of Lake Lure is seeking a qualified individual to serve in the Public Works Department as a Utility Maintenance Technician, I. Employees in this class perform a variety of semi-skilled and occasionally skilled labor tasks. Tasks include the maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, storm-water basins and drains located in various town buildings and facilities including parks and recreation facilities. Although assigned to a specific service crew, employees may be assigned to other service crews regularly, depending on seasonal demands, emergencies and project priorities.
Work involves operating a variety of tools and equipment. Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and with exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils. Employees may be subject to on-call and call-back work. Work is performed under regular supervision of the assigned division supervisor and is evaluated through observation and inspection for adherence to instructions and standard trade and safety practices. This a full-time non-exempt position with a Salary Range of $32,989-$49,670, plus benefits which include health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement.
