What is the Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail?

The Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail was created to establish a connection between trails in Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and the Hickory Nut Gorge. It has potential to be over 100 miles in length. The image below is the blaze for the HNGST.

Please see the map of the Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail, so you can see the area this trail covers. Completed trails are shown in black, while trails in progress are shown in orange. The red lines show possible routes for new trails that would connect this exciting new trail.
