Lake Lure Storm Damage Update - Saturday, 9/28/24 AM
This is the Lake Lure Storm Damage Update for Saturday, 9/28/24 AM.
1) Lake Lure Dam: Schnabel Engineers are on site this morning to evaluate the dam further and make recommendations. The assessment requires the Town to drop the Lake 3 feet.
2) The NC EOC has made arrangements for overhead photos to be taken to assist with the assessment. They are flying over now.
3) Road Clearing: Fire and Public Services Staff are working hard on road clearing this morning starting from the main bridge from Chimney Rock Village to the Town of Lake Lure. The priority roads are in and out of Town first, then they will begin addressing side roads.
4) Lake Clean Up: The Park, Rec, & Lake Staff are beginning the Lake cleanup today. Multiple contractors have been called in to help with cleanup and repairs.
5) Water/Sewer System Repairs: Engineers will be here today to evaluate the system and will help try us obtain a temporary lift station.
6) Cell/Internet Service: There is still little-no cell service or WiFi in Lake Lure. The Town has requested emergency equipment through RC Emergency Management.
Thank you to all those who are assisting with the cleanup throughout Town.
Thank you to our community for watching out for each other and for your patience as we work through the very challenging days ahead.
