Lake Lure has a growing population with 1,365 full-time residents, according to the 2020 Census Data (www.osbm.nc.gov ).  In addition to the increasing number of residents who call Lake Lure home, over 300,000 visitors tour the area each year.  Many people are discovering the exquisite natural beauty of our Lake, the stunning mountains, parks, trails, and limitless possibilities for enjoyment. Lake Lure is fortunate to have several town-owned recreational facilities and opportunities for residents and visitors. Whether it's easy walking trails alongside the lake's edge, a visit to Lake Lure’s Flowering Bridge, a game of tennis, pickle ball, golf, bird-watching, rock climbing, biking or hiking with your dog, there's something for every age and ability. Start with this list of amenities to find what you might love about Lake Lure.

  • Morse Park: The Morse Park meadows cover a large grassy area located beside the Lake Lure Welcome Center at 2926 Memorial Hwy. The Park includes a picnic area, playground, basketball and tennis/pickle ball courts all for public use. The Park offers a large paved parking lot, restrooms, and plenty of level ground.  It’s the ideal location for athletic events, reunions, festivals, boat shows, car shows, tournaments, outdoor concerts and craft fairs. An amphitheater is planned for this area in the near future so there will be expanded opportunities for outdoor events in Lake Lure.

 

  • Lake Lure Beach and Water Park: The Beach includes 100 yards of clean, sandy beach and swimming area, a changing area, bathrooms and snacks, a water park with water slides and water games, a large covered picnic shelter on the beach, and individual picnic tables for your enjoyment.

 

  • Lake Lure Floating Walkway and Washburn Marina: Lake Lure built a floating boardwalk which offers gorgeous lake side views and easy access from Morse Park through the Town Center.   The Marina offers ample boat slips that include lighting, electrical outlets and security cameras, boat, canoe, and kayak rentals as well as Lake tour boat excursions.  There are picnic tables and a shaded pergola area with beautiful landscaping.

 

  • Buffalo Creek Park: This is a 3.5 mile pet friendly* trail for hikers and bikers offering banked turns, berms, and rollers for mountain biking.  Visitors will enjoy views of Lake Lure, Bald Mountain Lake, and Young’s Mountain.

 

  • Weed Patch Mountain Trail: This 8.7 mile pet friendly* backcountry trail is for experienced hikers.  It offers spectacular mountain views and access to Eagle Rock in Chimney Rock State Park.
  • Dittmer-Watts Nature Trail: This trail offers 3.3 miles of pet friendly* hiking opportunities with benches throughout. There is a covered picnic area with picnic tables for lunch or a snack on the go.

 

  • Young’s Mountain Trail: This picturesque trail offers woodland streams and a small, splashing waterfall.  Views include the summit overlooking Lake Lure, Rumbling Bald, and Weed Patch Mountain.

     

  • Lake Lure Flowering Bridge: Our pet friendly* Flowering Bridge offers a unique display of plants and butterflies which are all named in the numbered directory. Come enjoy a stroll with views of the beautiful flowers, Lake Lure and the surrounding mountains. Bench seating is available.
