Boat Permit Application
2024 Lake Lure Boat Permits will be available for purchase beginning January 2, 2024. The process for purchasing the permit has been updated, so please note the following information.
- If your boat was permitted in 2023, an attestation of the accuracy and continued coverage & registration is all that will be needed to purchase a 2024 Lake Lure Boat Permit.
- You may download the Attestation Form here. (* NOTE - There may be some exceptions.)
- For boats that were not permitted in the previous calendar year (2023), an application will be needed along with the required documentation listed below.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR NEW 2024 BOAT PERMIT SALES
(This Does Not Pertain to Renewals of 2023 Permits.)
ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE HARD COPIES TO BE KEPT IN THE FILE BY THE TOWN OF LAKE LURE.
- North Carolina State registration (Motorized boats only)
- Declaration Page of Boat Insurance Showing $300,000 in Liability Coverage (Motorized boats only)
- Specification Sheet for the Boat to be Permitted Showing Weight, Length, and Horse Power (Motorized boats only)
- Completed Boat Permit Application
- Payment
A LAKE LURE BOATER’S LICENSE IS REQUIRED FOR ANYONE OPERATING A MOTORIZED VESSEL ON LAKE LURE
- A Lake Lure Boaters License may be issued by all permitting agents at all locations.
- Review the Lake Lure Boaters Safety Course and Test.
