This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for western North Carolina.

DAY ONE: Today and tonight. A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will develop in higher elevations after midnight tonight and continue into early Saturday. Accumulations will be light, but slippery conditions still could develop on bridges, overpasses, and decks by daybreak Saturday.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN: Saturday through Thursday. Mixed precipitation may continue in some areas Saturday morning before changing to rain. An arctic air mass moves into the area Sunday night and remains in place through Wednesday. Some areas of the mountains will fall below freezing Sunday evening and not rise back above freezing until Wednesday or even Thursday. Furthermore, wind chill values may fall to dangerous levels Sunday night and Monday. The potential for any wintry precipitation during this time remains highly uncertain.
