Hazardous Weather Outlook - August 8-9, 2024
The National Weather Service has issued the following Hazardous Weather Outlook.
Tropical Cyclone Debby is expected to impact the western Carolinas Thursday and Friday.
- The main impacts would be an increased risk for heavy rain and flooding Thursday and Friday, with the greatest risk along and east of I-77.
- However, the track this storm takes as it moves over the Carolinas will determine what locations have the higher threat for flooding rain.

Thursday
Showers likely, mainly after noon. The rain could be heavy at times. Cloudy, with a high near 80. North wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Thursday Night
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 10pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. North northwest wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday
A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8am, then a chance of showers between 8am and 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. West northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Friday Night
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68.
