Storm Ahead Sign

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Western North Carolina.

DAY ONE: Today and tonight- Numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms will develop again
across the region this afternoon and evening. The slowly-moving showers will produce locally very heavy rainfall and isolated flash flooding could develop. A few of the thunderstorms could
become severe, with damaging wind gusts being the primary threat.
Dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning will accompany any of the storms as well. The showers and thunderstorms could linger into the overnight hours tonight.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN: Tuesday through Sunday - Additional heavy-rain producing showers and thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday and Tuesday night. The threat of localized flash flooding along streams and nuisance flooding of poor drainage areas will continue.

Tropical System Idalia is forecast to make landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast late Tuesday night, move off the Georgia coast late Wednesday, and then cross the coastal waters of South Carolina
Wednesday night. On this track, any gusty winds or heavier rain bands
would impact mainly lower Piedmont areas. Be aware that any westward
shifts in the forecast track would increase the potential for wind and rain impacts in our area from Idalia.

Please use caution and dial 9-1-1 for all emergencies.
