Important Reminder - All Boats on Lake Lure Require A 2023 Boat Permit

Boat on Lake Lure with Skier - Reminder to get your 2023 Boat Permit

Lake Lure is a small man-made lake with less than 27 miles of shoreline. As stewards of the lake, the Town of Lake Lure must carefully and consistently manage its challenges and limitations. In an effort to meet the diverse needs, schedules, budgets, and preferences of a wide array of residents and visitors, several types of boat permits are available.  All watercraft - motorized and non-motorized - must obtain and display a permit issued by the town in order to be on the lake. This includes, but is not limited to, any kind of stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes.

Please, be aware that as of April 30th, all water vessels on Lake Lure (including those docked in marina boat slips, inside boathouses and/or those affixed to a dock, a lake structure, the shore or other stationary object regardless of the vessel’s condition, serviceability or frequency of use) are required to have a 2023 boat permit displayed on the vessel. Since it is now past April 30th, any vessel on Lake Lure without a valid boat permit displayed is subject to fines and/or being removed from the lake at the owner’s expense.
