Hazardous Weather Forecast. - Snow is Expected this Weekend
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northeast Georgia, western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.
DAY ONE: Tonight. Gusty south winds are expected across the high elevations of the southern Appalachians early tonight and diminish by early morning Friday. Gusts of 30 to 40 mph will be common above 3500 feet, while gusts as high as 50 mph or greater are possible on exposed high peaks and ridge tops. Winds will be much weaker on the valley floors.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN: Friday through Wednesday. Snow is expected to develop across much of the southern Appalachians from late Saturday through Sunday night, with the best potential Saturday night into Sunday morning. Significant accumulations are possible, especially across the northern mountains and at the higher elevations above about 3500 feet.
