We Prepared and Thankfully We Were Spared!
Thanks to everyone who worked hard to prepare for the effects of hurricane Ian based on weather forecasts for our area. Our hearts go out to all those experienced devastating impacts from Ian. We are very fortunate that we received much less rain and wind than was originally predicted in Lake Lure.
We lowered the lake in preparation for the storm. The lake is about 3.5 feet down from full pond and 2.5 feet from our normal operating range. We will be working to get back within normal limits now that the storm has passed. Raising the lake level will depend on temperatures and rain in the coming days. We will post updated lake levels here. The National Weather Service has posted the following forecast for the weekend. Enjoy every moment!
This Afternoon: Partly sunny, with a high near 65. Northwest wind around 8 mph.
Tonight: Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 52. Northwest wind around 6 mph.
Sunday: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly between 9am and 5pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 66. North northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. North northwest wind 3 to 6 mph.
