This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northeast Georgia, the foothills and Piedmont of western North Carolina, and Upstate South Carolina.
DAY ONE...Today and tonight. Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. A major winter storm may arrive from the west over the weekend, with the greatest impacts Saturday night through Sunday.
- Accumulations of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will be possible Saturday night through Sunday evening.
- Heavier snow can be expected across the North Carolina foothills, while increasing amounts of sleet, and possibly freezing rain, will mix in at times across much of northeast Georgia, Upstate South Carolina, and the Charlotte Metro Area.
- The heaviest ice accumulations from freezing rain should occur southeast of Interstate 85.
- All interests should closely monitor this system since winter weather impacts could be substantial, but remain uncertain at this time.
- Cold temperatures following the storm may keep road conditions treacherous into early next week.
