Temporary Water Outage - The Highlands 12/20/22 - Water Restored 12/21/22

Temporary Water Disruption Sign

On Tuesday, 12/20/22, the Lake Lure Public Services team responded to a low water pressure issue in the Highlands Subdivision.  There are currently 5 residents being served with water.  Upon investigation, it was determined that the Duke transformer feeding the pumps and equipment was dead.

After attempting to hook the pumps up to generators, it was found that the power requirements of the pumps were incompatible with the generator.  The transformer that went bad is a very rare voltage.  Duke Energy does not have one in stock.  There is one compatible transformer that Duke is going to bring to Lake Lure to install and restore power to the pumps and equipment at the wells.  They estimate that it may be restored later on 12/21/22 or possibly the following day.

The Highlands residents have power.  The transformer that died, was serving the Town well site and equipment only.

Residents were contacted on 12/20/22 and will be updated.

Update 12/22/22: This issue has been resolved and the water has been restored
