TEMPORARY POWER OUTAGE AND ROAD BLOCK 7/15/21 - 4:15PM UPDATE
9:30 AM Update: Memorial Hwy in the Town of Lake Lure, NC is completely blocked as you can see through the photo below. A large tree feel causing the road blockage and power outage. The Lake Lure Fire and Rescue and Public Works Departments are working with Duke Energy crews to clear the road so power can be restored as soon as possible.
10:45 AM Update: An estimated time for power restoration of 5:00 p.m. today has been established by Duke Energy. Two trees fell and their impact broke two poles, causing 5 spans of three phase wire to be on the ground. Duke Energy tree crews have safely removed the trees and line crews are in the process of setting new poles.
11:30 AM UPDATE: Trees have been removed and poles are being drilled. There are two poles that must be replaced. An estimated time for power restoration of 5:00 p.m. today has been established by Duke Energy. Two trees fell and their impact broke two poles, causing 5 spans of three phase wire to be on the ground.
2:00 PM Update: Duke Energy hopes to have power back on by 3:00 PM today. Fiber was cut in multiple places. AT&T and Pangea cannot start to work until Duke Energy's work is finished. Duke Energy has advised that the road may not be open until AT&T and Pangea have completed their work. All lines cross the highway multiple times so repairs requires work from 64/74.
4:25 PM UPDATE: The Town of Lake Lure, NC has been advised that power has been restored in most locations in Town. Crews are still working to restore phone and internet services and to clear the road.
Updates will be provided regarding road opening and power restoration as soon as additional information becomes available.
