These are the latest Storm Damage Update as of 9/28/24 at 1:30PM. 

1) Lake Lure Lake Levels: The Lake Level has been dropped by about 5 feet for assessment and repairs of the Dam. The Lake Lure Dam remains stable. 

2) Egress/Ingress to Lake Lure: 
- Memorial Highway (64/74) is not passable from Town Center beyond the Flowering Bridge. Crews are working to clear the bridge and this area now and one lane of traffic will be open shortly; However, roads beyond this point may be blocked including 64/74 and 64 towards Hendersonville. 
- Crews will be working to clear Boys Camp Road next. 
- Highway 64/74 to Rutherfordton is blocked and is not accessible beyond the intersection of Bill’s Creek Road. A bridge is out further down this road. 
- Highway 9 is not open just beyond McQuinn’s store, a few miles beyond Lake Lure. 

3) Priority Road Clearing: Fire and Public Services Staff are working hard on clearing the main roads first, then side streets. Updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available. 

4) Lake Clean Up: The Parks, Rec, & Lake Staff and Volunteer are working on Lake cleanup. It is a massive job and will likely take weeks but the work is beginning. Multiple contractors are assisting with clean up and repairs and we are grateful for their assistance! 

5) Water/Sewer System Repairs: Engineers are here today to evaluate the system and try to get a temporary lift station. Updates will be provided as each well is assessed. 

6) Cell/Internet Service: There is still little-no service or WiFi service in Lake Lure. The town has requested emergency equipment through RC Emergency Management.
