Lake Lure's Sewer System Replacement Update

Important Update Sign

The Town of Lake Lure has entered a period of transition in the replacement of the legacy sewer system. Steps are being taken to ensure the integrity and maintain the capability of the current system while the new system is being installed over the next several years. The Town is working closely with the Asheville Regional Office of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality to ensure the viability of the existing system until the new wastewater collection system is fully operational.

  • Permitting for single-family residential connections continue to be issued through the Town of Lake Lure.
  • New commercial applications may be submitted to the Lake Lure Public Works Department for follow-on endorsement and submittal to the Asheville Regional Office for final disposition.
  • This does not impact the permitting and installation of new septic systems that are independent of the legacy system.
