Lake Lure Lake Levels
Lake Lure was not lowered this past weekend as divers were continuing to work on the reservoir drain project which required stable lake levels. Lake Lure is currently about 2.0 feet below full pond at approximately 988.6.
Lake levels will continue to be closely monitored in preparation for forecasted rain in the coming days. A change in Lake Levels will occur overnight. The current plan is to lower the lake by approximately one foot to 987.5. Further changes in Lake Levels may be required to support sewer system repairs in the coming days. Updates will be posted here as Lake Levels are assessed during and after the upcoming rain event.
Lake Level Update 2/13/25:
The recent rain event has brought the Lake up to 989.26 mean sea level (MSL) as of 2/13/25. Town officials consulted with the US Army Corps of Engineers and Ashbritt Environmental today and have determined that this higher Lake Level is a suitable level for the next phase of debris removal. The higher Lake Level is also providing an opportunity for crews to get more boats off the Lake.
While the divers are continuing to work on the reservoir drain project, the current plan is to take the Lake up to approximately 990.0 MSL for the next two weeks.
The Lake is currently within the Town's normal operating range but remains closed to everyone except approved contractors for everyone's safety. Significant changes in Lake Levels will be reported here in Town News.
Lake Level Update 2/28/25:
The current Lake Level is 990 Mean Sea Level (MSL).
- The Town will be lowering the Lake Level to about 988 - 988.5 MSL over the weekend to support the work of the divers working on the reservoir drain.
- The Lake will remain at this level until their work is complete, hopefully next week.
- The Town will consult with the US Army Corp of Engineers and AshBritt regarding the optimal lake level for the ongoing work of removing debris once the divers have finished their project at the dam.
- Updates will be posted here when further decisions are made regarding the Lake Level.
