Lake Clean Up Following Storm Damage
On Tuesday, 8/17/21, the Town's debris boom anchor connection broke under the enormous pressure of the raging waters and debris ranging in size from small sticks to full size trees. The Town of lake Lure Parks, Recreation, and Lake Department began lake debris clean-up on Wednesday, 8/18/21, the day after the storm. On the following Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, staff crews and Tim Edwards' team worked diligently to remove as much of the debris as possible. Two Town of Lake Lure work boat crews and Tim Edwards’ crew continue to work each day to clean the open waters of the lake to make it safe for boaters. After all the large debris has been removed from the open waters, we will then move to the shoreline areas and coves removing debris. The final phase will be to go to each dock that has debris placed on it and remove it.
If you place debris on your dock, or have logs too big for you to handle, please call 828-625-9983 ext. 100 or 502 to be placed on the debris pick-up list. You may also submit an ONLINE WORK ORDER FOR LAKE DEBRIS PICKUP.
