Hazardous Weather Outlook

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for our area for Saturday through Thursday.

  • Moderate to heavy downpours will develop at times Saturday into Sunday ahead of an approaching cold front which may lead to nuisance flooding.
  • Additionally, strong to severe storms may develop ahead of the front Sunday morning into Sunday afternoon.
  • The main hazard with any severe storms that develop are damaging wind gusts but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

The current Lake Level is 987.5. 

  • The Town of Lake Lure will be lowering the lake by approximately 1 foot in preparation for forecasted rain. 
  • Lake Lure will be lowered to 986.5 beginning 12/27/24. 
  • The plan will be to maintain the Lake Level around the 987.5-988 range following the rain.
