Marine Commission Meeting Summary - September 10, 2024
The Lake Lure Town Council held a Marine Commission Meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 4:00 PM.
- The meeting was open to the public and was held in the Lake Lure Municipal Center at 2948 Memorial Highway, Lake Lure, NC 28746.

I. Call to Order
Mayor Pritchett called the meeting to order and thanked everyone for their attendance at the meeting.
II. Agenda Adoption
The agenda was approved as posted.
III. Public Comment:
The public was invited to speak on any non-agenda and/or consent agenda topics. The Mayor reminded everyone that comments should be limited to less than three minutes.
There were no public comments.
IV. Lake Advisory Board Report
Commissioner Dave DiOrio serves as the liaison for the Lake Advisory Board. He thanked the Lake Lure Police Department as the officers have been making rounds on the Lake each shift to ensure boater safety. They also attend the lake Advisory meetings for a discussion about their findings. He noted that they are monitoring the number of warnings and tickets issued each month. One of the areas they have been watching closely is non-motorized boats to ensure they are following the rules for their safety. Police Officers report that all boaters have been receptive to their guidance. The Board is reviewing the Lake Use Regulations and plans to provide recommendations for enhancements at the next quarterly Marine Commission Meeting.
