The Town of Lake Lure is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Utility Maintenance Technician I.  Employees in this classification of work perform a variety of "semi-skilled", and occasionally "skilled" labor.  Tasks may include maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, stormwater basins, and drains and of various Town buildings and facilities, including parks and recreation facilities.  Although assigned to a specific service crew, employees are assigned to other Town service crews regularly, depending on seasonal demands, emergencies, and project priorities.

The work for this role involves operating a variety of tools and equipment. Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments, including extreme hot and cold weather.  The work entails exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils.  Employees may be required to serve "on-call" and work may require "call-backs".  Work is performed under the regular supervision of the assigned division supervisor and is evaluated through observation and inspection for adherence to instructions and standard trade and safety practices.

This a full-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $29,570-$44,522.  Full-time employees receive salary plus benefits which includes health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and retirement.
