Blue Ridge Community College is accredited by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Colleges and Schools. In 1963, the North Carolina General Assembly authorized a system of comprehensive community colleges and technical institutes to be established in areas of the state where a definite need for such an institution was shown. So whether your goal is a technical skill in which you wish to be certified, preparation for further study in a four-year institution, qualifications for a technical career achieved through an associate degree, pursuit of a technical interest or mastery of literacy and basic education, Blue Ridge Community College can provide convenient times and manageable costs. The college is easily accessible via interstate 26, Hwy 64, 25, 191, and 176.
Gardner-Webb University located in Cleveland County has over 100 full-time faculty members with two-thirds of the faculty holding a Ph.D. or equivalent. The student-to-faculty ratio is 15 to 1, therefore, Gardner-Webb University is able to provide personal instruction to its students, who now number over 3,200, making Gardner-Webb the fifth-largest private institution in North Carolina. In addition, new technological features in our library enhance the learning experience.
Isothermal Community College (ICC) is located in Spindale, North Carolina and just a short distance from the Town of Lake Lure. ICC is a nationally recognized institution that offers a wide range of concentrations; college transfer, technical, vocational, and continuing education programs furnish outlets for every age group. The ICC Library has a large stock of books, films, microfilms, and recordings. In the library’s Old Tryon Room, you can find historical and genealogical reference materials pertaining to Rutherford County.
University of North Carolina – Asheville
University of North Carolina - Asheville (UNCA) is the only designated liberal arts institution in the 16-campus University of North Carolina system. Warren Wilson College is an independent, accredited, four-year liberal arts college, which awards the bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees in a variety of disciplines and the master of fine arts degree in creative writing.
