Employment Opportunity - Lake Lure Firefighter Position
The Town of Lake Lure is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time firefighter at the Lake Lure Municipal Fire Department. This is a 24-hour shift position and will require work on holidays and weekends, and requires emergency callbacks. Applicants should meet the following qualifications: NC Certified Firefighter, current NC Emergency Medical Technician, Hazardous Materials Operations Level Certification, Incident Command Level 700, 800, 100, and 200 Certification, NC Wild-land Fire Suppression, and valid NC Class B Driver’s License. Candidates should have at least 3 years experience in a progressive fire department, rescue training, and experience in medical response. Candidates not already possessing these certifications shall be required to obtain NC Advanced EMT, NC Technical Rescuer, Swift Water Rescue Technician, and Ropes Technician within two years from the date of hire.
Candidates must provide medical clearance from a physician, complete a physical agility course, and pass a written firefighter exam. Successful candidates will work closely with three other contracted volunteer departments and must exhibit a professional attitude, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in extreme conditions.
Preference will be given to applicants who live within 30 miles of Lake Lure town limits. The pay rate is commensurate with experience and the Town’s pay classification plan in the range of $38,189-$57,283.
